Hello my name is Kristina Saul, and I am a A level student here at Lampton School’s Sixth Form. The subjects I am studying are Art&Design, Media and English Language and Literature. My goal after Sixth Form is to go to a University in London or nearby to study Video and Film Production or to apply for an apprenticeship or PQ if this plan falls through. I have picked Art and English because I enjoy being creative and know English will help me get into University and will help my professional writing skills which I would need to be granted a Degree, but also it will help me get a job in a number of fields such as Author or Journalist.
The Universities I have in mind for my Higher Education studies include: Birkbeck, Roehampon, UCA and Wolverhampton. |
English Language: The English Language course is taught by Mr Ahmed, and in the classes we read through a anthology, analyse the text we have read and discuss with the class what we think the text and its author is trying to tell the reader. We also write assignments on the language, layout, format and attitudes conveyed in a article we have read in the anthology, and mainly look at the language given. Currently for AS level our subject criteria is food, and so we look at how language is used to show the attitudes conveyed towards food in the articles of the anthology.
English Literature: The English Literature course is taught by Mr Pavey, and in these classes we read a total of two novels, talk about that has happened in the novels and discuss what the author is trying to tell us through the character. We also write assignments about the books we have read, writing about the attitudes the author has given the character or writing about the language used in the book. For example in one lesson we wrote a paragraph in the dialouge of the character Holden, about a lesson we have attended in class. In this section of the course we also research the authors who wrote the books, and about the history of the storylines in the books (for example we researched the slave trade in America). |
